Our Principal

Dr. Scott Eckers is an educator, historian, cantor, and entertainer.  For many years, Scott taught Hebrew, Yiddish, Jewish culture and music at the Workmen’s Circle’s I.L. Peretz Jewish School of Nassau.  He was on the faculty at MakomNY, where he taught classes and led Shabbat services.  Scott served as the high holidays cantor at Marathon Jewish Community Center and then the consolidated Etz Chaim/Hollis Hills Jewish Center for many years.  He is an active member and trustee of East Meadow Beth-El Jewish Center, where he regularly leads services, teaches Bar Mitzvah lessons, and formerly directed Junior Congregation.  Scott is a past trustee and past president of the East Meadow Board of Education, a member of the New York State Theatre Education Association board of directors, and a member of Actors’ Equity Association.  He works for Great Neck Public Schools and is proud to be Jenny’s husband and dad to Jacob and Simon.

Robyn Rosenberg taught in after-school Hebrew schools for over twenty years. In addition to being part of the MASA staff, Robyn is a teacher Yeshiva Primary where she teaches kindergarten and first grade. Reflecting on her time with MASA, Robyn looks for to the excitement when the children start to read Hebrew.  Time is spent playing games to aid in learning to read words and Hebrew prayers.  What is emphasized is learning about holidays and Jewish customs and traditions through stories and doing crafts.  Robyn’s goal is for the children to practice and appreciate our beautiful religion.
