BEGINNING NOVEMBER 8TH

The New Jewish Canon, edited by Yehuda Kurtzer & Claire E. Sufrin, is an extraordinary text that includes 70 original articles by leading Jewish figures over the past 40 years, from Menachem Mendel Schneerson to Ruth Calderon. Commentary on each of the articles is provided by contemporary Jewish scholars.

With the help of the facilitator’s guide, Rabbi Wise has organized the material into nine sessions with an introduction. The Schedule is as follows:

  3. History, Memory, and Narrative – November 29th

  4. Religion and Religiosity – December 6th

  5.  Identities and Communities – December 13th

  6.  Theme: Intermarriage – December 20th

  7.  Theme: Feminism – January 3rd

  8.  Theme: Holocaust Memory – January 10th

  9.  Theme: Israel and Jewish Power, part 1 – January 24th

  10.  Theme: Israel and Jewish Power, part 2 – January 31st
