“Seeing God:” Hebrew Poets Encounter the Divine

All through Selihot and on Yom Kippur, we ask God to remember the 13 Divine attributes that God taught Moses to say. “Adonai Adonai, El Rahum veHanun…” How is the idea of “seeing God,” as Moses does, understood by modern Hebrew poets? Using the scholarship of Professors Dalia Marx and Wendy Zierler, we’ll read some poems and wrestle with the ideas.
