Shabbat Vayigash 5782

This is the Shabbat of the “big reveal.” Moved to tears by Yehudah’s powerful plea for Binyamin’s release, Yosef can no longer keep up the charade. He reveals his true identity to his brothers and begins the process of family reunification. He also implements an economic policy that Egyptians will probably not recall with fondness in the years to come. Parshat Vayigash, then, is a harbinger of things to come for the children of Israel in their Egyptian diaspora.

My goal in offering the weekly musical scavenger hunt is to entice people to read the Torah portion carefully, as well as to have some fun with music. Even if you don’t care for the video clips, it’s worthwhile to read the parshah anyway! For those who want to play along, why did I think of these songs?

Deep track from Rumours

From Quadrophenia

The title means “A person accumulates memories” (translation here)

Answers will be revealed after Shabbat ma’ariv and havdalah, which begins this week at 5:05 PM. Remember that during the winter months we are having minhah at 12:30 PM, after morning services and kiddush.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom and happy listening,
