Shabbat Nitzavim 5781

This is the final Shabbat of 5781. As we prepare to turn the page on the calendar and enter a New Year, we read Parshat Nitzavim. The Torah reading reinforces the eternal nature of the Covenant God makes with the People of Israel. It’s good to have this idea ringing in our ears as we prepare for the transition into Rosh Hashanah. These songs, of which I was reminded when I reviewed the parshah, are my final music clues of the year. What made me think of them?

The British Invasion, Exhibit A

Not true, Yazoo

What have I done to deserve Pet Shop Boys?

Moshav Band in rehearsal mode

Floridian hard-rockers Shinedown

I grew up listening to my sister listening to Tapestry

Classic Canadian band Trooper

Now that we are back to shul in person, I will be revealing the connections in the break between Minhah and Ma’ariv. Join us in person in the sanctuary, or virtually on the livestream, at 7:00 PM.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, and as always, good health,

Rabbi David Wise
