Shabbat Emor 5781

If last week’s Torah reading reminded us of Yom Kippur, then this one should have us thinking about the other holidays on our calendar. After all, we read a good chunk of Parshat Emor on the first days of Sukkot and the second day of Pesah. And it includes the commandment to count the Omer, which we have done faithfully for 32 days and counting so far! Let’s see if you can figure out the connection between the Torah portion and these songs:

Michael and Sir Paul

Evita Madonna

Elvis HaMelekh

Punk rockers who got on Broadway

The clue is the band

This poor woman was gunned down after a concert

Answers are welcome at our online havdalah at 8:40 PM on Saturday night!

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, and as always, good health,

Rabbi David Wise
