Shabbat Ki-Tissa/Parah 5781

Four-legged farm animals are germane to both Torah readings this week, with a starring role for the Golden Calf in the weekly portion, Ki-Tissa, and the special Maftir reading of Parah Adumah, the Red Heifer.

New footage of the Golden Calf fiasco has recently emerged. Click here for the clip. The subtitles could be bigger, but they’ll have to do.

This is a rich Torah portion, with plenty of musical clues, so read it carefully and tell me why I chose these songs:

Look for variations on Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger, and Posh

Five Man Electrical Band

Brilliance in Tapestry

Death Cab for Cutie

The Moody Blues

Klezmatics with the best album title ever

Join us on Zoom for havdalah Saturday evening at 6:40 for the answers!

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, and as always good health,

Rabbi David Wise
