Shabbat Vaera 5781

Welcome to the month of Shevat! I know that it’s hard to imagine the ground thawing out and nature revitalized, but the arrival of this month, and Tu Bishvat, reminds us that spring is on the way.

In our weekly Torah reading cycle, the Egyptians certainly can’t sense spring, as they are pummeled with one plague after another. In this week’s portion, Vaera, they suffer seven of them. Maybe that’s because this was Pharaoh’s mantra: Quarterflash

This week, the musical challenge is on me. Can I find a song for every plague? Indeed I can! Some will be obvious; others, less so. I’m scrambling the clips; your job will be to put them in the correct order. Answers will be shared at our online Havdalah Saturday at 5:45 PM. Have fun!

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom, and as always good health
