Shabbat Miketz 5781

As you know. we have moved temporarily to the triennial Torah reading on Shabbat mornings, for the purposes of keeping the people who come indoors to make a minyan a little more safe. This week, while we’ll again read the middle third of the portion, we have a special treat. Janet Hiller-Jacobowitz prepared the first aliyah of the parshah. You can hear her here.

This week, we’ll be reading from Genesis 41:53-43:15. We look forward to returning to our normal full parshah soon!

The story of Yosef and his brothers is one of the greatest narratives in world history. It’s rare for the Torah to mention the emotional state of its characters, but we get a window into what nearly everyone in this story are feeling. Tears flow, regret is expressed, as some brothers overreact and others think rationally. Here are some of the songs that came to mind as I read this week’s portion, Miketz. What made me think of these tracks?
