Sisterhood December 2018 News

Cold days or warm, sunshine or rain, our Sisterhood is always busy and full of plans.

We have had a really good beginning to our year.  Thank you to everyone who was part of our Paid-Up Membership Brunch, Shabbat Dinner in the Sukkah, Oak Hills Sisters’ Welcome Lunch, Breast Cancer Walk and Fundraiser, Pre-Holiday Bazaar, first meeting of our Mah Jongg Club, and Torah Fund Brunch honoring our own JoAnn Luquis.  If you weren’t part of these, you missed some good food, lots of laughs, and a real sense of community and purpose.

Coming up we have a Kosher Chef cooking for us, tallit-making, our annual Purim Project, and hopefully the return of the wonderful Maine Rebbetzin (maybe even with her husband this time).  We will also be sending out information about joining our region of National Women’s League at their Women’s Seder, with car-pooling. If you haven’t joined us officially yet, it is not too late.  Just send your $54 check to the office, made out to Sisterhood.

Last but not least, as announced at the Welcome Lunch, our Sisterhood is providing financial donations in support of the Pittsburgh families and their tragedy, which is our tragedy too.  We are making donations to the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, which is helping families directly; the Anti-Defamation League; the Southern Poverty Law Center; HIAS; and the Squirrel Hill shul, Tree of Life, where a GoFundMe page has been set up.  Everyone is encouraged to think about doing some of the same.

Looking forward to seeing YOU soon.
