Sisterhood News – September 2016

Shalom! With the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer behind us we are looking forward to another exciting year with the Sisterhood. Our energetic group of women support the local, national and international Jewish community and the community at large. Your membership makes a difference.

Lisa Azo has already been working hard in her new position as co-President. Our funds are in good hands with Beth Diker as our treasurer, and Maris Blechner keeps our affairs in order as our secretary. Marilyn Seidenfeld continues to be our gift shop go-to person. Thank you all for your leadership.

Our board takes great care in planning interesting events. However, we also would love to hear from you. Please let us know if there are any types of programs you would like to attend as we continue building out our program for 2016/2017.  Come join us at our next planning meeting September 14th at 8pm.

Our Honey from the Heart fundraiser was extremely successful this year. Family and friends are sure to enjoy their decorative jars of honey for Rosh Hashanah.

This year’s events will be kicked off with our paid-up membership brunch on September 18th at 10am. Maris Blechner will give a reprise of her appearance on The Moth that aired on Public Radio.

I am very pleased to inform you that our Torah Fund honoree will be our past President and active member Carol Lieber, who has worked tirelessly for the Sisterhood. We hope to see you at the brunch honoring her on Sunday, November 13th at 10am.

December 11th we are going to have a Hanukkah Gift Shop bazaar and party. We hope to see you all there perusing the goods.

Our annual Sisterhood Shabbat will be held January 14th.  It’s never too early to start thinking about the parts you want to participate in.

As with our yearly tradition, we will be assembling Purim baskets on March 5th at 10am, with distribution on March 11th after the megillah reading.

I know we’re all looking forward to the Women’s Seder, and this year’s will be as moving as ever.

We are planning a special event in April, and a country-western hoedown planned with the Men’s Club in May. Lots to look forward to, and more planning still to come.

We look forward to seeing you at these events.
