Our Journey for the New Year

I know this summer was very hot but it was a nice one. We will fondly remember the sizzling days of this past summer when we start to see the temperatures dip below 32 and see the snow falling. The most important thing is that we are healthy and together as a family.

I would like to take this opportunity to give a very warm welcome to our friends from the Bayside Jewish Center who have become part of our congregational family. We are now the HOLLIS HILLS BAYSIDE JEWISH CENTER (HHBJC), more than just a Synagogue, we are a special & unique congregation, filled with prayer, spirituality, tradition, music, culture, friendship, devotion, family & love. We are there for each other and for our people through thick and thin. Let us set sail together on this new journey as we pray, celebrate and share together. Let us carry on the sacred Jewish legacy that has been bestowed upon us to ensure the Jewish people survive.

Our High Holiday services are always unique & beautiful and this year will be very meaningful as we, together, begin our journey.  We will officially welcome the Bayside Jewish Center  into our Congregational family at our SLICHOT SERVICE on Saturday Night, September 24th. Please join us at this momentous occasion as we usher in the High Holidays.  The next morning, Sunday, September 25th, we will drive the Bayside J.C. Torahs to a spot close to our Temple (Hollis Court Terrace and Union Tpk) and march up Union Tpk escorting the Torahs to our shul as we SING, DANCE & REJOICE together.  Once we arrive at our Temple with the Torahs, we will celebrate together! Refreshments will be served. ALL ARE WELCOME!

By the way, …Our GALA CONCERT will take place on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2016.  **SAVE THE DATE** We will enjoy magnificent music and hilarious laughter! Mark your calendars!

Also, get ready for some more of our unique Yiddish classes. We will laugh until we PLATZ as we learn a bisel, laugh a bisel and nosh a bisel . OY VEY…Dates to be announced in our next Dateline.

As we approach the High Holidays and as I always do this time of year, I look forward to speaking with many of you, and while asking for your support of our Temple, I am thrilled to have the chance to catch-up with you and to hear about your families and to chat about life in general.

June and I would like to wish each and every one of you, and your families, A HAPPY, HEALTHY & SWEET NEW YEAR, with GOOD HEALTH & PEACE!

 SHANA TOVA, GMAR CHATIMA TOVA.

See you in Shul.

Cantorially always,
Cantor Sol Zim
