Shalom! Now that the cool days of fall are upon us, and we have celebrated the High Holy Days, we are looking forward to another year of exciting events with the Sisterhood.
Our paid-up membership brunch was a great success. Everyone enjoyed good food and hearing Maris Blechner speak.
The Pink Ladies of the Hollis Hills Bayside Jewish Center will be participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on Sunday October 16th. We will be meeting at the center at 8am to car pool.
Our Torah Fund brunch will take place on Sunday, November 13th at 10am. The Torah Fund honoree will be past president and active member Carol Lieber, who has worked tirelessly for the Sisterhood. The Torah Fund is an integral part of the Sisterhood and the National Women’s League of Conservative Judaism allowing us a direct avenue to support Conservative Judaism and the Jewish Theological Seminary. We are looking forward to Sisterhood members supporting this function.
On December 11th we will have a Chanukah bazaar. There will be vendors selling a variety of goods making your holiday shopping easier.
Our annual Sisterhood Shabbat will be held during the winter. This is one of our most spiritually fulfilling events, where our members lead the Shabbat services from the beginning to the end. Please begin to think about a part that you have never tried before, and for which you would be comfortable volunteering. It has been wonderful watching our members change their roles each year and experience new pieces. We always look forward to a beautiful service.
We are working on something exciting for February. We will keep you posted.
In March we celebrate the joyous holiday of Purim as Sisterhood prepares with our Purim Project. Please be ready to volunteer to assemble Purim baskets on March 5th at 10:00am for distribution on March 11th after the Megillah reading. In April we will continue our tradition of the Women’s Seder. This inspiring event is a learning experience as well as a social one.
We are planning a special event in April that we are sure you will enjoy. May will bring a country-western hoedown with the Men’s Club. June 14th will be our end-term Challah bake. Please join us at our upcoming planning meetings on Wednesday, October 13th at 8:00pm. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
