HHJC – Our Own Special People…Being Honored

What a special time of the year at HHJC! Organizations are recognizing and paying tribute to those who passionately help! Our SIMCHA 2016 was a beautiful evening filled with tremendous love & togetherness. What ruach (spirit)!

This year our honorees were…MARIS & STEWART BLECHNER, our Couple of The Year. They are an unbelievable team! No job is too difficult for them to tackle. How lucky we are to have them with our Congregation! JACK COHEN received our Keter Torah Award. What a fantastic jokester! He makes us all laugh and always brings sunshine and a beautiful smile to everyone with everything he does! JOSHUA LIEDERMAN is truly deserving of the Rev. Frank Strassfeld Heritage Award as the apple does not fall far from the tree. He is a special young man who is carrying on the Liederman traditions! What beautiful music we had!! SHIR SOUL, led by David Ross! They were Fantastic and kept the celebration going! The food was delicious, thanks to PRESTIGE CATERERS. The entire evening was simply magnificent as we shared laughs, tears & memories together as One Family.

Just recently, one of our very own, DIANA KOFMAN, was honored! She is the lovely daughter of our members Maddy & Shachaf Kofman. “Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs” honored her with the “Youth of the Year Award”. Diana is a special young lady! She is an Honors student at Francis Lewis H.S. & a member of ARISTA (the National Honor Society). She excels at everything she does & is a supporter of all Jewish community causes. She has led our Junior Congregation on the High Holidays and is an Officer & Chapter President of H2I (the USY chapter in our area). She volunteers for the GO Project (an organization that helps underprivileged students who are behind academically and socially) and she was just promoted to the Program Assistant. Diana will be attending Syracuse University in the Fall. “Zee Hot Ale Myles” (She has it all)! She is also Captain of her school’s Varsity Tennis Team. Diana has made such a great impact on so many! Congratulations Diana! We are so proud of you!

Last but certainly not least, our RABBI DAVID WISE, my Pulpit Partner, my Dear Friend, and our Congregation’s talented spiritual leader & teacher. YES…Rabbi Wise is being honored with “The Avodat Kadosh (Holy Work) Leadership Award” at the METNY USY SCHOLARSHIP DINNER being held on June 8th at Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle. We at HHJC are blessed with an exceptional Rabbi, Teacher, Scholar, Leader & Friend. He is committed to community & helping others. As our Spiritual Leader, he is devoted to the furtherance of Jewish Education, Culture & Tradition. I am proud to share the pulpit with YOU – Rabbi Wise, as you continue to lead our Congregation for many years!

What a unique Temple we have! So many congregants…of all ages, here at HHJC, are true leaders & passionately committed to our Jewish Community. We honor them & Salute them! YASHER KOACH to all!

See you in Shul.

Cantorially always,
Cantor Sol Zim
