April News From Sisterhood

Hooray!!!! Spring is finally here. Our Purim Project, during which we made and distributed Shalach Manot packages, went off without a hitch. We had fun. Everybody enjoyed the goodies and we made some money to give to charity and support our synagogue. Well done ladies! Special thanks to our chairperson, Maris Blechner. Our Women’s Seder was beautiful, spiritual and delicious. Thank you all who participated and created music and ruach with us. Special thanks to our chairperson, Gaby Weilmann.

Our after Passover shopping spree at the Deer Park Tanger Outlets will take place on April 26th. We will carpool from the synagogue and caravan to the mall. This is purely social, recreational fun as well as the beginning of our spring and summer wardrobes. Hope to see you then.

This year we tried something new, with some success. We want to thank those women who bought their Mahjong Cards through Sisterhood. Ida Weisser and Sandy Lukin organized this project which ran seamlessly. If you play Mahjong, contact Ida for Cards through Sisterhood. Thanks.

We are very excited about our May 3rd outing to the Nassau County Museum of Art, which is located in Roslyn Harbor, Long Island on the former Frick Estate.  It is situated on a spectacular property in the heart of Long Island’s fabled Gold Coast. Aside from the displayed art work and beautiful architecture, there are walking trails and gardens. We will pray for good weather so that we can enjoy the whole package. Robyn Rosenberg is the chairperson for this event. She has been in touch with our docent who promises a fabulous visit. Stay tuned for further details. Flyers and reservation forms will be mailed out shortly. Our tour starts at 3PM. We will carpool from the synagogue or you can travel on your own. Save the time and date!

We are happy to announce two upcoming fundraisers which will help you beautify your homes and your holiday tables. Please watch for information regarding Honey for the New Year and Flower Power, which will enhance your gardens and homes.

Our ongoing events continue. Our Sisterhood gift shop has been doing well so that older merchandise has been sold and new items are filling the spaces. Please check out our new goods before Passover. Our weekly yoga classes which are held in the ballroom on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM are continuing. It is taught by our own Gaby Weilmann, who is a certified yoga instructor and physical therapist. Please come and join us for some fun and healthy movement.

For those who want to become more involved or those who want to remain involved, please feel free to come to our planning meetings. We will be meeting in Menchel Hall on April 26th at 10 AM and June 3rd at 8 PM. We are looking for volunteers for a nominating committee, to fill our executive board positions for next year. Please contact me at 718-740-4708 if you are interested.

Our end of the season event will take place on June 10th. This event promises to be relaxing, cordial and fun. Refreshments will be served. Hold the date.
