Sisterhood started 2015 with a real bang. Although many women left town to warm up, we had a fabulous Sisterhood Shabbat on January 17th. Our members read in Hebrew and in English, chanted from the Torah and Haftorah and led all parts of the service. We are very proud of all who participated. Thank you.
In March, we celebrate the joyous holiday of Purim. Sisterhood prepares for Purim with our Purim Project, capably and tirelessly organized by Maris Blechner. Information about the Project will be distributed under separate cover. Sisterhood volunteers will meet on March 1st at 10:00 AM to assemble Shalach Manot (purim goodies) and will distribute them on Purim night, March 4th, after the Megillah reading. Come join us in helping make everybody’s Purim a happy one.
Also in March, we will celebrate the coming of Passover with our annual Women’s Seder. This event is a learning experience as well as a social one. It includes eating, drinking, reciting, dancing, singing and fun. It has been described as inspirational, educational and entertaining. Watch for more information related to this event and join us.
We are very excited about two upcoming fundraisers which will help you beautify your homes and your holiday tables. Please watch for information regarding Honey for the New Year and bulbs to enhance your gardens and homes.
On April 16th, we will be traveling to an Outlet Mall for our yearly bargain hunting trip. We are usually successful and come home with bags full. Aside from the shopping, we get to know one another better and really have fun. See you then.
On May 3rd, we will be visiting the Nassau County Museum of Art which is located in Roslyn Harbor, Long Island on the former Frick Estate. It is situated on a spectacular property in the heart of Long Island’s fabled Gold Coast. Aside from the displayed art work and beautiful architecture, there are walking trails and gardens. We will pray for good weather so that we can enjoy the whole package. Robyn Rosenberg is the chairperson for this event. She has been in touch with our docent who promises a fabulous visit. Stay tuned for further details.
Our end of season event will take place on June 10th. Hold this date for a great surprise.
Our ongoing events continue. Our Sisterhood gift shop has been doing well so that older merchandise has been sold and new items are filling the spaces. Please check out our new look before Passover. Our weekly yoga classes which are held in the ballroom on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM. are continuing. It is taught by our own Gaby Weilmann, who is a certified yoga instructor. Please come and join us for some fun and healthy movement.
For those who want to become more involved or those who want to remain involved, please feel free to come to our planning meetings. We will be meeting in Menchel Hall on March 1st, April 26th, May 3rd and June 3rd. For those dates that fall on Sundays, the meetings are at 10 AM and on Wednesdays; the meetings will begin at 8 PM.
Thanks to all who have sent in their dues. If you have not already done so, please send your Sisterhood dues to the office c/o Sisterhood.
