As always, with no school vacations, March was one of our busiest months at H2I! We started off with a jam-packed weekend, including our Chapter Shabbaton for our USYers in grades 8-12, alongside which we had an H2I Family Shabbat program where our younger members and their families joined us for services and part of Shabbaton to get a feel for what USY Shabbaton is all about! The H2I Family Shabbat portion of the program, along with all of our H2I Family Shabbat programs, was made possible through a Microgrant from The Jewish Education Project, an agency committed to sparking and spreading innovations that expand the reach and increase the impact of Jewish education. Later that weekend, our younger groups went on a trip to the newest spot in the neighborhood—Glaze-a-Riffic, where they decorated some beautiful pottery!
Our month continued our annual Purim Carnival at ICCJ, and as always, everyone who came out had a great time playing the games, winning awesome raffle prizes, and more! Later in the month, out younger groups had an Athletic Showdown and Pajama Night, while our middle and high schoolers took part in an important “Words to Action” program run by the ADL, that provides resources and tools to strategically respond to anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias.
As we look towards April, we’re excited about our Ice Cream seder before Passover, our last H2I Family Shabbat Program of the year—a Friday night dinner on April 28, and a Yom Ha’Atzmaut celebration on April 30. In addition, we encourage our members and their families to attend the joint Yom HaShoah commemoration at Jewish Center of Kew Gardens Hills on April 23 in place of our regular Sunday programming that night.
In addition, don’t forget that all of our regular Sunday night programming has moved to ICCJ for the homestretch of the year!
