December was another great month at H2I! We started off the month with our younger groups celebrating Chanukah through Iron Chef, where they battled to make their best latkes and jelly donuts! Our USYers joined the ICCJ Education Committee and Men’s Club that morning for a breakfast with Professor Joy Ladin about understanding Trans Identity, which proved to be a very meaningful program for all of the H2I and METNY USYers who attended. The next week, our younger groups continued to celebrate Chanukah while our USYers took part in a gelt-themed evening of fun with card games and more. We wrapped up our 2015 programming with Human Board Game Night on December 20, when all of our groups got to try their best to emerge victorious in their favorite board games – only life-sized!
January looks to be just as exciting! We’ll start off the year on January 10 with Double Dare – a trivia game with built in “physical challenges” – for our younger groups, while our USYers will be having their own Iron Chef night, battling it out to cook a classic Jewish dish. On January 24, all of our groups will celebrate Tu B’Shvat with “green” themed Mitzvah Stations, in which they’ll take part in a variety of chesed projects geared around the environment. Finally, we’ll wrap up our month from January 29-31 hosting Sababa Divisional Kinnus, a weekend for high schoolers from across NYC, at Hollis Hills Jewish Center.
Wishing you and your families a happy secular new year!
