March Sisterhood News

The ice and gloom of winter are almost gone and the warmth and cheer of spring are just around the corner. Sisterhood began the month of March by creating beautiful Purim baskets filled with goodies. We helped spread the spirit of Purim and the coming of spring by distributing those baskets after the Megillah reading on Purim night. We hope everyone had a joyous holiday. We give special thanks to Maris Blechner for running the Purim Project beautifully and efficiently, as usual.

Sisterhood will be celebrating Passover through a women’s perspective at our annual Women’s Seder on Sunday, March 29th. The women of Sisterhood have created a Hagaddah of our own to make the experience especially meaningful to us. This event is a learning experience as well as a social one. It includes eating, drinking, reciting, dancing, singing and fun. It has been described as inspirational, educational and entertaining. We hope you will come and celebrate with us. Please watch for more information related to the Seder.

We will be off to the outlets on April 16th to shop and socialize. Everyone comes home happy and with wallets a little thinner! Aside from the shopping, we get to know one another better and really have fun. See you then.

We are very excited about our May 3rd outing to the Nassau County Museum of Art, which is located in Roslyn Harbor, Long Island on the former Frick Estate.  It is situated on a spectacular property in the heart of Long Island’s fabled Gold Coast. Aside from the displayed art work and beautiful architecture, there are walking trails and gardens. We will pray for good weather so that we can enjoy the whole package. Robyn Rosenberg is the chairperson for this event. She has been in touch with our docent who promises a fabulous visit. Stay tuned for further details.

We are happy to announce two upcoming fundraisers which will help you beautify your homes and your holiday tables. Please watch for information regarding Honey for the New Year and Flower Power, which will enhance your gardens and homes.

Our ongoing events continue. Our Sisterhood gift shop has been doing well so that older merchandise has been sold and new items are filling the spaces. Please check out our new goods before Passover. Our weekly yoga classes which are held in the ballroom on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM are continuing. It is taught by our own Gaby Weilmann, who is a certified yoga instructor and physical therapist. Please come and join us for some fun and healthy movement.

For those who want to become more involved or those who want to remain involved, please feel free to come to our planning meetings. We will be meeting in Menchel Hall on April 26th and June 3rd at 10 AM.

Our end of the season event will take place on June 10th. Hold the date for a great surprise.

Have a great month and a warm and sunny spring!
