September 2014 News

After a fun-filled summer, during which a number of our teens toured the United States on USY on Wheels, volunteered to help better the world on USY on Wheels: Mission Mitzvah and TivnUSY, or enjoyed a week of sleepaway camp at METNY Encampment, it’s time for another great year of H2I Youth Group.

We’ve been hard at work throughout the summer to build on H2I’s METNY USY Chapter of the Year award-winning year, and our efforts begin with our brand-new website,! On the website, you’ll find information about our programs, calendars, a blog, and more! We’ve also launched new Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram profiles to keep you updated on what’s happening at H2I – you can follow us at @H2IYouth.

H2I Youth Group offers programs for children and young adults in grades 2 through 12. Both our Nitzanim group, for children in grades 2-3, and our Chalutzim group, for children in grades 4-5, meet each Sunday night from 5:00-6:15 PM. Kadima, for children in grades 6-8, meets each Sunday from 6:15-7:30 PM, while USY, for high schoolers in grades 9-12, meets each Sunday from 7:30-9 PM. Our activities range from social to educational and athletic to artsy. In addition to our regular Sunday night meetings, we offer a Thursday Night Recreation Hour program at Hillcrest JC, from 6:30-7:30 PM for Nitzanim, Chalutzim, and Kadima. These programs rotate on a weekly basis, and include Game Hour, Gym Hour, Homework Help, and Swim Hour!

Our programming begins on Sunday, September 7, when we hold a Food Olympics & Registration Night! These meetings, which will take place at Hollis Hills Jewish Center at the abovementioned times, will allow parents to register their children for H2I while their children enjoy competitions with food and candy! We can’t think of a better way to kick off another great year! Of course, we have many more programs planned for September, so be sure to check out our new website to see what we have in store!

Please feel free to contact me at if you have any questions about H2I! I hope to see all of you on September 7 for Registration & Food Olympics!
